Collaboration between agencies and clients
There are two ways in which an agency can collaborate with their clients in ContentKing:
- Collaboration within the same ContentKing account by inviting new users
- Cross-account collaboration using the Connected Accounts feature
Watch this video to learn how these two collaboration methods work together and how to choose the best method for each client:

In SEO, there's really nothing like the feeling of you and your clients being on the same page.
And collaborating around your valuable advice is much easier
when everyone is working with the same data and insights.
But there's a problem: Most tooling for SEO experts is too complicated for your clients to work with
and the tooling they do understand is too basic for you to work your magic.
That's where ContentKing comes in.
ContentKing provides in-depth insights in real-time, while still being a pleasure for anyone to use.
So let's take a look at how agencies can collaborate with their clients in ContentKing!
Just so we're on the same page, when we say account we mean the one you have with ContentKing,
where you monitor websites and collaborate with your team members.
So, there are two ways to collaborate in ContentKing:
You can invite your client to your account as a guest…
Or, if they have their own account, you can connect to it and work with their data there.
Both options make it easy to work together, but there are some differences between the two.
When you invite a client to your own account, you have full control over the websites they can access.
They are essentially a guest in your account.
They won't be able to add new websites,
invite other team members
or make changes to the account settings.
Going this route means their websites take up space in your subscription.
If your client has their own account, you can connect yours to it.
Separate accounts mean complete freedom for your client to do whatever they need to,
like add new websites,
invite team members,
and change account settings.
Their account will have its own subscription, which means their websites won't take up any space in your account.
And if it's more convenient for you, you can still be the one picking up the tab.
You can connect to as many client accounts as you'd like,
so while your clients will only have access to their own websites,
you'll be able to seamlessly work across all the client accounts you're connected to.
So which way works best for you?
If you occasionally want to share reports and to-dos with your clients,
it's probably better to invite them to your account.
But if your client audits their websites themselves and uses ContentKing on a regular basis,
it makes a lot more sense for them to have their own account, and connect it to yours.
And the best part?
You can choose the right option for each client individually.
Some of them can be guests in your account,
while others can have their own, connected to yours.
So start collaborating with your clients today!
Collaboration within one account
In ContentKing you never pay per user. This means that you can have as many users as you want in your account, and you can also assign different user roles with different levels of access.
Although inviting users to your account is primarily designed for collaboration with your colleagues, thanks to the option to limit a user’s access to selected websites only you can also use this method to collaborate with your clients within your agency account.
You can read more about this collaboration method in this dedicated article: Users & Roles.
Collaboration across accounts
In ContentKing you can also connect two separate accounts and collaborate between them directly, using Connected Accounts.
The Connected Accounts feature is primarily designed for collaboration between agencies and clients each of whom have their own, independent ContentKing account.
You can read more about this collaboration method in this dedicated article: Connected Accounts.
When to use Connected Accounts
The Connected Accounts feature allows your clients to have their own, independent ContentKing accounts which you can access from your agency account and manage them.
The main differences between the two methods are summarized in this table:
Inviting the client as a user within one account | Cross-account collaboration using Connected Accounts | |
---|---|---|
Collaboration (sharing website data, segments, etc.) | ||
Account ownership | Agency | Client |
Client has full access rights | ||
Client has separate billing entity | ||
Client has separate subscription configuration (commitment, features) | ||
Client has separate page bundle | ||
Client can manage their own integrations (GA & GSC) | ||
Client has access to the Reporting API & GDS |
